Interactive Brokers, dirt Cheap, poor platform, poor customer service.
ThinkOrSwim, Best platform, great charting, great training, very good customer service, good pricing.
Terra Nova Trading, 3 platform offerings (best is RealTick), good customer dervice.
Tradestation, good platform, good reputation.
TD Ameritrade & E-Trade are not true “day trading” platforms.
They’re all about the same. Just be sure you’re getting a legitimate firm, not a scam. The way you do it is to look for members of well known regulatory agencies such as the National Futures Association (NFA), Commodities Futures Trading Commissions (CTFC), etc.
Interactive brokers. Dirt cheap trades! Nice trading platform. Great execution.

I have had no problems with Scottrade

All major brokerage firms provide on-line service to their clients and most have excellent trading platforms
If you are choosing between Ameritrade or E-Trade, E-Trade would be the least expensive, but TD Ameritrade would be the better of the two firms.
E-Trade deals with many amateur “traders” while Ameritrade would have the better clientele.
Although I currently deal with Fidelity, Scottrade & ThinkorSwim, if I were to add another firm it would be TD Ameritrade.
